Exchange Programme (EP) Committee Member
The term of office will start on 1 January 2026.

The ESAIC is seeking to recruit a new member of the ESAIC Exchange Programme (EP) Committee. The ESAIC EP Committee aims to select European anaesthesia and intensive care residents and specialists and facilitate their visits to European centres.
The three-year mandate of the member of the Exchange Programme (EP) of the ESAIC becomes vacant on 1 January 2026.
Role
TThe new member will start on 1 January 2026. The EP plays an important role in the activities of the Society. The Committee is currently composed of four members. The EP member post requires close liaison with the Exchange Programme Department of the ESAIC Secretariat in Brussels throughout the year to:
- Review and score the trainees applications selecting those awarded every year.
- Review the centre applications to fulfil the requirements to be included as host centre.
- Recruit centres, either directly or via the National Representatives (Members of Council or Presidents of the National Member Societies).
- Generate an annual report to the ESAIC.
- Play an active role in the improvement of the Host Centers of the EP.
- Play an active role in the ESAIC Exchange Programme.
EP Members will be required to attend at least 1 meeting of the EP Committee at the annual Euroanaesthesia Congress and several online meetings throughout the year. Travel expenses to attend f2f meetings are provided according to the standard ESAIC Reimbursement policy.
Requirements
Applications are encouraged from active ESAIC members who meet the following criteria:
- Must be an ESAIC Active or Affiliate Member.
- Experience of anaesthetic teaching and training nationally.
- Experience of (trainee) exchange programme nationally and internationally.
- ESAIC Contributions
- National and international experience in giving examinations.
- Personal experience of being a fellow or trainee abroad.
Term of Office
The mandate is for three years and is renewable twice for one year for a total of five years. Committee members can apply for the Chair position no later than at the end of their third year. The total aggregated uninterrupted terms of office must not exceed seven years (Member + Chair + Past Chair).
Gender balance and representation from throughout Europe will be encouraged on all Committees. No more than two representatives working professionally in any one country (except for ex-officio or co-opted members with no voting rights), and no more than one representative from the same institution, can sit on any Committee/Subcommittee. In special circumstances, the Board of Directors could grant an exception to this rule.
