Dr Juri Karjagin - Obituary
It is with the greatest sorrow that we have to announce the passing of Dr Juri Karjagin.
Juri died in a car accident on July 8. The community of Estonian anesthesiologists and intensivists is in deep grief.
Juri was a teacher for a whole generation of young anesthesiologists. He was an associate professor of anaesthesiology and intensive care at the University of Tartu as well as the program director for postgraduate training of anesthesiology and intensive care. For the last 15 years, he was the head of department and, lately, the Head of the Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Clinic of Tartu University Hospital. Juri was the President of the Estonian Society of Anesthesiologists from 2015 to 2024. He continued his dedicated work on the board of the Society. Juri was also an active member of ESAIC and a former member of ESAIC Council.
Juri was an excellent doctor, outstanding anesthesiologist, scientist and a teacher, great companion, colleague and a friend. We believe that he really was the best anesthesiologist in Estonia. He always cared the most about his patients, colleagues, friends and family. Juri was a father to three children. Jura (as we all called him) was just a great person!
We are all in deep grief.
