Congresses

The ESAIC hosts the Euroanaesthesia congresses that serve as platforms for cutting-edge science and innovation in the field. These events bring together experts, foster networking, and facilitate knowledge exchange in anaesthesiology, intensive care, pain management, and perioperative medicine. Euroanaesthesia is one of the world’s largest and most influential scientific congresses for anaesthesia professionals. Held annually throughout Europe, our congress is a contemporary event geared towards education, knowledge exchange and innovation in anaesthesia, intensive care, pain and perioperative medicine, as well as a platform for immense international visibility for scientific research.

Partnerships

The ESAIC works in collaboration with industry, national societies, and specialist societies to promote advancements in anaesthesia and intensive care. The Industry Partnership offers visibility and engagement opportunities for industry participants with ESAIC members, facilitating understanding of specific needs in anaesthesiology and in intensive care. This partnership provides resources for education and avenues for collaborative projects enhancing science, education, and patient safety. The Specialist Societies contribute to high-quality educational opportunities for European anaesthesiologists and intensivists, fostering discussion and sharing, while the National Societies, through NASC, maintain standards, promote events and courses, and facilitate connections. All partnerships collectively drive dialogue, learning, and growth in the anaesthesiology and intensive care sector.

Guidelines

Guidelines play a crucial role in delivering evidence-based recommendations to healthcare professionals. Within the fields of anaesthesia and intensive care, guidelines are instrumental in standardizing clinical practices and enhancing patient outcomes. For many years, the ESAIC has served as a pivotal platform for facilitating continuous advancements, improving care standards and harmonising clinical management practices across Europe.

ESAIC Deminars

Expanding high-impact digital learning in 2025

The eLearning Committee of the European Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care (ESAIC) is further advancing its commitment to high-quality education with a new online initiative: the Deminars. Building on the success of the established ESAIC Webinars, Deminars offer an evolved, interactive learning experience. These live online sessions combine filmed DEMonstrations with the dynamic engagement of a webINAR, which inspired the name DEMINAR

What makes Deminars different from a regular Webinar is their strong focus on frontline clinical practice. Each session tackles a specific topic in anaesthesia or intensive care, delivering practical, focused, and up-to-date learning that clinicians can take straight back to the bedside.

A key feature of the format is the use of filmed demonstrations and simulations that illustrate real-life cases and manoeuvres, alongside the essential interactive role of the audience. Deminars combine expert-led teaching with real-time participant engagement. Attendees are presented with a clinical case and asked to choose between different management options. After an online vote, the faculty reveals the most selected option and discusses its advantages and limitations, along with alternative strategies. In doing so, each Deminar walks through the decision or skills trees we all face in daily practice, using real cases to display and discuss different approaches and techniques. There is often no single right or wrong answer, and this format makes visible the rich diversity of practice in anaesthesia and intensive care across Europe and worldwide.

Who should attend?

ESAIC Deminars are ideal for:

  • Clinicians seeking flexible, high-value continuing education
  • Anaesthesiologists and intensivists
  • Trainees in anaesthesia and critical care
  • Nurses and allied health professionals

Any learner with a myESAIC account can register for the live online session free of charge. Deminar replays are an exclusive benefit for ESAIC members.

Proven impact and the next Deminar: Regional Blocks for Kids

The ESAIC Deminars are already attracting global attention. The first two sessions, “ECMO: All you wanted to know and were afraid to ask” and “Lung Recruitment: How I Do It”, each drew more than 500 live participants from over 60 countries and achieved a 99% positive satisfaction rate.

Building on this momentum, the upcoming Deminar “Regional Blocks for Kids”, scheduled for 16 December 2025 at 18:00 CET, will focus on paediatric regional anaesthesia. This field requires a dedicated understanding of anatomy, physiology, and safety considerations unique to children. The session, developed in collaboration with ESPA, will feature practical demonstrations, short videos, and interactive discussions to help clinicians decide when and how to apply regional blocks in paediatric practice.

Looking ahead

To improve patient outcomes in anaesthesia and intensive care, ESAIC continues to expand its digital education portfolio with contributions from international experts. Deminars will remain a cornerstone of accessible, high-impact learning in 2026, including a session on Difficult Airway Management, which promises an exciting year ahead for clinicians committed to lifelong learning and excellence in patient care.

Stay tuned and visit the ESAIC Academy for updates and further details.
