Glasgow Declaration at Euroanaesthesia 2025

Masimo becomes the first medical technology company to sign, joining forces with the ESAIC to lead sustainable change in healthcare
The European Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care (ESAIC) is pleased to share that Masimo has become the first medical technology company to sign the Glasgow Declaration on Sustainability in Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care.
The declaration was signed during Euroanaesthesia 2025 (EA25) and marks the start of a partnership between the ESAIC and Masimo to promote sustainable practices in anaesthesia and intensive care. Both organisations recognise the urgent need to reduce healthcare’s environmental impact and are committed to working together over the next three years to close gaps in knowledge, research, and education. Their joint efforts will focus on achieving greener operating rooms and more sustainable healthcare systems.

The Glasgow Declaration recognises that the healthcare sector contributes significantly to global pollution and climate change. Waste from hospital care, if not properly managed, can damage water ecosystems and lead to high levels of carbon emissions. These emissions add to the greenhouse gases already driving climate change. The declaration is a call for urgent action across the sector.
Masimo’s decision to sign the declaration shows its commitment to responsible innovation and environmental care. The ESAIC believes that this collaboration sends a strong message and will encourage others to take similar steps.
Together, the ESAIC and Masimo are helping to shape a more sustainable future for healthcare through action, cooperation, and long-term responsibility.
