Prof. Idit Matot, Elected President of ESAIC at Euroanaesthesia 2024
We are delighted to announce that Prof. Idit Matot has been elected President of the European Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care (ESAIC). She will assume her role as President-Elect on 1 January 2025 and will bring a wealth of experience, dedication, and leadership to the organisation.
Prof. Matot, a distinguished figure in the field of anaesthesiology, currently holds the esteemed positions of Director of the Division of Surgery and Chair of the Department of Anaesthesiology, Intensive Care, and Pain at Tel Aviv Medical Centre. Her expertise in Geriatric Anaesthesiology, coupled with her extensive experience, has earned her a reputation as a leader in the field. Notably, she has been a staunch advocate for advancing anaesthesiology and empowering women in this critical medical speciality.
In addition to her clinical and administrative roles, Prof. Matot has significantly contributed to ESAIC in various capacities. She served as the ESAIC Scientific Programme Chair from 2019 to 2023, overseeing the development and implementation of scientific programmes that have enriched the knowledge and practice of anaesthesiologists across Europe and beyond. Her dedication and innovative approach earned her an Honorary Member award from ESAIC, highlighting her substantial contributions to the field.
As she prepares to step into her new role as President-Elect, Prof. Matot reflects on her journey and the future of ESAIC. “I am honoured to be elected as the President-Elect of ESAIC,” she stated. “Our field is constantly evolving, and I am committed to ensuring that ESAIC remains at the forefront of anaesthesiology and intensive care, fostering innovation, education, and collaboration.”
