Euroanaesthesia is one of the world’s largest and most influential scientific congresses for anaesthesia professionals. The Specialist Societies contribute to high-quality educational opportunities for European anaesthesiologists and intensivists, fostering discussion and sharing, while the National Societies, through NASC, maintain standards, promote events and courses, and facilitate connections. All partnerships collectively drive dialogue, learning, and growth in the anaesthesiology and intensive care sector.

eLearning Committee Chairperson 

The term of office will start on 1 January 2027.

Deadline for applications is 22 June 2026.

The ESAIC is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated new Chairperson to the eLearning Committee to assist in evolving and advancing eLearning in the Education Department of the ESAIC.

The committee

The eLearning Committee plays an important role in the development of professional education and is of the utmost value in the current Mission and Vision of our Society. The eLearning Committee is part of the umbrella committee ‘Education and Training Committee’ (EdTC). For more information about ESAIC Committees, please click here.

The role

The eLearning Chairperson post requires close liaison with the Education and Training Committee to identify, develop and evaluate new eLearning methods, techniques and content, new technology initiatives and “best practice” eLearning projects.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  1. Produce Webinar programmes, eLearning modules and other web-based educational products, some of which are created jointly with other ESAIC Committees and/or other associations;
  2. Provide and improve knowledge, skills and help to evolve attitudes in the field of Anaesthesiology, Intensive Care, Pain Management and Emergency Medicine through web-based services;
  3. Develop and promote the ESAIC Learning Management System (LMS) and related activities;
  4. Define the educational focus for each yearly programme and to develop eLearning strategies for the future.

Operational

  • Contribute to the preparation of the annual budget and documents in collaboration with the ESAIC headquarters.
  • The Chair will provide input and advice for the budget of the eLearning Committee.
  • Regular reporting to the Education and Training Chair on the current activities.
  • Attend at least 1 meeting of the eLearning Committee at the annual Euroanaesthesia Congress and several e-meetings throughout the year. Travel expenses to attend meetings of the Committee are provided according to standard ESAIC policy.

Candidate Profile & Requirements

Eligibility criteria

  • The candidate must have been an Active or Affiliate member for at least the last two years on the date of the application deadline.
  • Compliance with the Nomination policy. Therefore:
  • candidates who are already part of the committee are eligible if their cumulative mandate will not exceed 7 years.
  • The chair cannot hold other positions within the same committee and cannot be chair of any other ESAIC committee.

Qualifications and skills

Required qualifications and essential skills

  • Previous committee experience in ESAIC teaching, educational or scientific activities;
  • A good understanding of teaching methodology and its use in clinical practice;
  • Knowledge of the didactics of training and education and an awareness of balancing learning objectives vs. content;
  • Fluency in English

Preferred qualifications and desirable skills

  • Previous activities in eLearning (experience as Host/Speaker of Webinars or author of eLearning modules);
  • Experience in Social Media as marketing tool (optional);
  • Publications in education or training (optional);
  • Master of Medical Education (optional).

Availability

This role requires a significant time commitment to fulfil its responsibilities, including attending regular meetings and undertaking committee work. Applicants should expect to dedicate approximately 5–10 hours per week on average (with flexibility of ±5 hours), with occasional peak periods related to the planning and delivery of educational content.

Conflict of Interest and Code of Conduct

  • Full disclosure of any actual or potential conflicts of interest is required, in line with the society’s policy
  • Expected to adhere to and uphold the principles set out in the society’s Code of Conduct

Term of Office

The new eLearning Committee will be elected for a term of 3 years, followed by a 1-year period as Past-Chair of the Committee.

The term of office is set to start on 1 January 2027.

  • Chair from 1 Jan. 2027 to 31 Dec. 2029
  • Past-Chair from 1 Jan. 2029 to 31 Dec. 2030

Complete applications will be reviewed by the eLearning Committee and the Nominations Committee. Applications are encouraged from active ESAIC members who meet the following criteria. Gender balance and representation from throughout Europe will be encouraged on all Committees.
