Euroanaesthesia is one of the world’s largest and most influential scientific congresses for anaesthesia professionals. Held annually throughout Europe, our congress is a contemporary event geared towards education, knowledge exchange and innovation in anaesthesia, intensive care, pain and perioperative medicine, as well as a platform for immense international visibility for scientific research.

With over 40 years of publication history, the EJA (European Journal of Anaesthesiology) has established itself as a highly respected and influential journal in its field. It covers a wide range of topics related to anaesthesiology and intensive care medicine, including perioperative medicine, pain management, critical care, resuscitation, and patient safety.

ESAIC Podcast Host

The term of office will start on 1 September 2026.

The ESAIC is looking to recruit permanent Hosts for its monthly podcast series.

Commitment: maximum 40h/year
Position: remote (within Europe)

The podcast

The ESAIC podcast was launched in 2022, tackling all the different aspects of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care.

Each episode typically puts in conversation a Host and Speaker who discuss a topic for approximately 20 min. The podcast encourages a conversational approach to medical subjects, centring the lived experience of the physicians. The topics vary widely to cover all aspects of practice in the sectors of anaesthesiology and intensive care.

The episodes are hosted on the ESAIC website and various podcast medias (Spotify, Apple podcasts, Google podcasts, etc.) as well as on ESAIC YouTube channel.

The role

The Host of the ESAIC podcast is the recognisable voice that accompanies the listeners from episode to episode. She/He is also the pacesetter of the conversation. The Host guides the invited Speaker throughout the preparation of the episode.

The ESAIC wishes to recruit permanent Hosts that would each be in charge of different episodes. Each Host would record their own episodes, distinct from those of the other Host(s)’s. Collaboration between Hosts is nonetheless strongly encouraged. This role is performed in English.

The mandate of Podcast Host is unique in the ESAIC ecosystem as it is not attached to membership within an existing Committee. It is an independent role that comes with specific responsibilities and benefits.

Selection criteria:

Mandatory:

  • Good command of International English;
  • ESAIC membership in good standing for 2026 (Active, Trainee, Affiliate, or Allied);
  • Based in Europe;
  • Able to commit a maximum of 40 hours per a year to the role;
  • Eager to work with a diverse cast of medical professionals, under the coordination of the ESAIC staff;
  • Available to attend the Euroanaesthesia congress;
  • Interest in and competency to tackle a wide array of topics and sub-topics of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care.

Valuable:

  • Ease of communication and approachable;
  • Flexible;
  • Comfortable in using digital tools necessary for the recording process.

Nice to have:

  • Previous experience in a similar activity.

Key Responsibilities:

The role consists in fostering engaging and enlightening discussions from pre-selected topics/titles. The episodes themes are established by the Education and Training Committee as part of a wider catalogue of activities.

  • Actively collaborate with the ESAIC Headquarters and technical crew;
  • Prepare episodes: researching, drafting, and reviewing questions, in active collaboration with Speaker(s);
  • Actively support the guest Speaker(s) in the preparation of the episode;
  • Help review the episodes when necessary;
  • Ensure availability to record from a suitable environment (prioritise recording from home and ensure availability of all necessary equipment).
