Euroanaesthesia is one of the world’s largest and most influential scientific congresses for anaesthesia professionals. The Specialist Societies contribute to high-quality educational opportunities for European anaesthesiologists and intensivists, fostering discussion and sharing, while the National Societies, through NASC, maintain standards, promote events and courses, and facilitate connections. All partnerships collectively drive dialogue, learning, and growth in the anaesthesiology and intensive care sector.

at the ESAIC

Train the Trainer Committee Chairperson

The term of office will start on 1 January 2025.

Deadline for applications is 2 July 2024.

The ESAIC is seeking to recruit a new Chairperson for the ESAIC Train the Trainer (TTT) Committee, which operates under the umbrella of the Education and Training Committee (EdTC). The ESAIC recognises that the standard of teaching Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care is a vital element of ensuring that our patients receive high-quality safe care. Many Anaesthesiologists and Intensivists are involved in teaching; however, they are not often taught how to deliver education. To address this need, the ESAIC developed the Train the Trainer course (formerly known as the Teach the Teacher course), aiming at improving the teaching skills of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Specialists.

The three-year mandate of the Chair of the Train the Trainer (TTT) Committee becomes vacant on 1 January 2025.

Role

The new member will start on 1 January 2025.

The TTT Chair post requires close liaison with the ESAIC Secretariat in Brussels throughout the year to:

  • Oversee recruitment of TTT applicants/participants.
  • Review the Faculty applications to fulfill the requirements to be included as Faculty member.
  • Play an active role in the improvement of the Course Material of the TTT.
  • Play an active role in the ESAIC Education and Training Committee (meetings).
  • Chair TTT Committee meetings.
  • Liaise with other committees with similar programmes and goals within and outside ESAIC.
  • Promote the ESAIC Train the Trainer.

Requirements

Applications are encouraged from ESAIC members who meet the following criteria:

  • Must be an ESAIC Active or affiliate Member. Applicants must hold up-to-date Active or Affiliate ESAIC membership for at least the last two calendar years on the date of the application deadline,
  • Graduate of the TTT Masterclass (TTTMC),
  • Experience as a Faculty of the TTTMC for the Week 1 and Week 2 of the course
  • Experience in teaching, training, researching, publishing & reviewing in Anaesthesiology, Perioperative Medicine, Intensive Care Medicine, Critical Emergency Medicine and Pain management,
  • Contributions to ESAIC activities,
  • National and international teaching experience.

Gender balance and representation from throughout Europe will be encouraged on all Committees. No more than two representatives working professionally in any one country (except for ex-officio or co-opted members with no voting rights), and no more than one representative from the same institution, can sit on any Committee/Subcommittee. In special circumstances, the Board of Directors could grant an exception to this rule.

Term of Office

The mandate is for three years officially starting on 1 January 2025. For continuity, the Past-Chair will remain a member of the relevant Committee for one year after the end of his/her term as chairperson.
