Euroanaesthesia is one of the world’s largest and most influential scientific congresses for anaesthesia professionals. Train the Trainer Committee Members 

The term of office will start on 1 January 2027.

Deadline for applications is 22 June 2026.

The ESAIC is seeking to recruit two new members for the Train the Trainer Committee (TTTC).

The committee

The ESAIC recognises that the standard of teaching of Anaesthesiology is a vital element of ensuring that our patients receive high quality safe care. Although doctors receive a great deal of education, they are not often taught how to deliver education. To address this need the ESAIC has developed a basic and intermediate TTT course (split into an online and a F2F segment) for Anaesthesiology Specialists and final year Anaesthesia Residents to improve their teaching skills.

The Train the Trainer Committee is part of the umbrella committee Education and Training Committee (EdTC).

The role

The TTT members will work closely with the Train the Trainer Committee Chair, the other Committee members and the ESAIC Headquarters on the areas highlighted below.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Participate in the selection of faculty for the TTT course and contribute as a faculty member, as appointed and aligned with programme requirements.
  2. Review and improve the educational material of the TTT course
  • Play an active role in the ESAIC Train the Trainer Committee
  • Attend meetings of the TTT committee. One meeting of the TTT Committee takes place face-to-face at the Euroanaesthesia Congress while any other meeting is organized online.

Additional Responsibilities

Fulfil any other duties assigned in the ESAIC Bylaws, governance policies, or internal committee procedures

Candidate Profile & Requirements

Eligibility criteria

  • The candidate must have been ESAIC active or affiliate member at the time of their application.

Qualifications and skills

Required qualifications and essentials skills

  • Is a graduate of the Train the Trainer Course (previously known as Teach the Teacher Course)*
  • Has experience in teaching, training, researching, publishing & reviewing in Anaesthesiology, Perioperative Medicine, Intensive Care Medicine, Critical Emergency Medicine and Pain management
  • Has National and international teaching experience.
  • Has previous or current contributions to ESAIC activities,
  • Fluency in English

*As a graduate the applicant should have either attended both the Part I (Online) and Part II (Face-to-Face) segments of the Train the Trainer course (the course re-launched version) OR the two training weeks of the Teach the Teachers course (the older course version).

Preferred qualifications and desirable skills

  • Has experience as a Faculty of the TTTC for the Week 1 and Week 2 of the course (based on previous course structure), or for the Online and F2F component (based on the current course structure).

Availability

This position requires a significant amount of time to fulfil the responsibilities of the role, including attendance of committee meetings and active involvement in the educational activities related to the Train the Trainer course.

Conflict of Interest and Code of Conduct

  • Full disclosure of any actual or potential conflicts of interest is required, in line with the society’s policy
  • Expected to adhere to and uphold the principles set out in the society’s Code of Conduct

Term of Office

The new members of the TTTC will be elected for a term of 3 years, renewable twice for one year each time (maximum of 5 years) *.

The term of office is set to start on 1 January 2027.

  • Original three-year tenure from 1 Jan. 2027 to 31 Dec. 2029
  • First possible tenure extension from 1 Jan. 2030 to 31 Dec. 2030
  • Second possible tenure extension from 1 Jan. 2031 to 31 Dec. 2031

*Extension of membership beyond three years should be officially applied for to the Chair of the Committee and is subject to Board approval.

  • short outline (maximum 1.000 words) of your goals and perspectives
  • declaration of Conflict of Interest for the last 3 years
  • statement of adherence to the ESAIC Code of Conduct

Applications must be received no later than 22 June 2026 at 23:59 CEST.

Complete applications will be reviewed by the Train the Trainer Committee and the Nominations Committee. Following the review, the panel will give a recommendation to the ESAIC Board of Directors, who will appoint the new members.
