ESAIC Education 2025
Innovative educational experience
ESAIC reaffirms its commitment to providing high-quality educational opportunities for professionals in anaesthesia and intensive care. For 2025, the Education and Training Committee of ESAIC is pleased to announce a broad range of educational activities organised into learning tracks. This innovative approach, introduced in 2023, moves away from the traditional, static learning toward a more dynamic and engaging educational experience.
The 2025 learning tracks are designed to cater to varying interests and expertise levels within the medical community.
The very relevant topic of Acute Care will be covered by the Webinar ‘Intraoperative Vasopressor use’ as well as by two Webinars (‘ECMO /All you wanted to know and were afraid to ask’ and ‘Lung recruitment – How do I do it’ ) and a Podcast titled ‘Advancing Hemodynamic Management: Exploring the Frontiers’.
Building on the journey initiated at the Innovation Village during EA24, the ESAIC remains focused on the ‘Innovation‘ track. This includes a Podcast, ‘How electronic health records (EHRs) and digitalisation improve outcomes’ and a series of Webinars: How I handle big data in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care, New drugs on the block and AI in perioperative care. Additionally, the track will feature podcasts recorded at Innovation Village EA25, exploring subjects related to AI, connectivity, and the Society’s sustainability pillar.
Paediatrics has evolved into a subspecialty of anaesthesia and intensive care due to the unique needs of infants and young children, which differ greatly from those of adults. Two webinars will be held on this subject: ‘Regional Blocks for Kids’ and ‘Anxiolysis: Using Technology for Sedation’ . The track will also be enriched by a TryMe Quiz and a Podcast addressing a complex issue: ‘When parents and medical teams disagree’.
Guidelines play a vital role in ESAIC’s research efforts and are a key element of the Society’s comprehensive educational programme. The implementation of the guidelines in hospitals and daily clinical practice is as crucial as challenging. The ESAIC Guidelines O’Clock modules are an optimal resource of updating. Specifically designed to enhance the ongoing medical education of ESAIC members, these modules are especially valuable for our newer members. Additionally, a significant portion of the EDAIC exam is based on these Guidelines.
In 2025 new Guidelines O’Clocks will be released alongside the publication of ESAIC Guidelines on ‘Failing regional anaesthesia in obstetric anaesthesia’, ‘Reversal of direct oral anticoagulants in patients with life threatening bleeding, and ‘Muscle relaxation in anaesthetised children’. A podcast on ‘Reversal of direct oral anticoagulants in patients with life threatening bleeding’ will also enrich this immersive journey in the evolving world of Guidelines.
The Patient Safety Ambassadors Programme is a blended learning path organised by the Patient Safety Quality Committee of ESAIC and is aimed at training healthcare professionals and make them become Ambassadors of safety implementation in their own hospitals and institutions, at the same time targeting healthcare leaders to initiate change. The elements of this programme include the Essential Patient Safety Course a series of e-Learning modules covering essential knowledge for those starting their journey into Patient Safety and The Advanced Patient Safety Course, a certification course containing tools for daily practice and the Patient Safety and Quality Masterclass, a deeper dive into mastering aspects of perioperative safety. Two Advanced Patient Safety Courses will be held in Naples (Italy) on 24-25 February 2025 and early in the summer (location and date TBC). One Patient Safety and Quality Masterclass will be held in Istanbul (Turkey) on 10-12 November 2025.
