EA24 - Pioneering progress in anaesthesiology and intensive care medicine
Munich, Germany – The Euroanaesthesia Congress is a highly anticipated event for anaesthesiologists and intensivists around the globe. The 2024 edition (#EA24) is set to take place in the bustling city of Munich, Germany, from May 25 to May 27, 2024. This conference has established itself as a major gathering for the medical community, and this year’s edition promises to elevate that status even further.
EA24 boasts a diverse programme meticulously compiled and developed by an international group of experts from the ESAIC Scientific Committee. Its multifaceted sessions cover a wide spectrum of anaesthesiology, intensive care, critical emergency, and pain medicine topics. Attendees can expect in-depth presentations and engaging discussions about the newest guidelines, ground-breaking clinical and basic research, education, the latest clinical practice advancements, pharmacology and our speciality’s societal impact.
The experts in the fields will address the current hot topics: the use of Artificial Intelligence in anaesthesia and intensive care and its ethical considerations, how to minimise the environmental impact of anaesthesia, the role and impact of the anaesthetist in the pre-, intra and postoperative period related to outcome and quality of life, or the latest evidence about persistent pain and opioid use in Europe and what concrete actions can be taken to improve patient care.
To open this congress ceremoniously, the ESAIC has invited Dr Matthieu Komorowski to present the opening lecture in memory of Sir Robert Macintosh. Dr Komorowski is a Clinical Senior Lecturer at Imperial College London and a consultant in anaesthesiology and intensive care at Charing Cross Hospital in London. He holds additional qualifications in space, mountain, diving and hyperbaric medicine and was previously a medical research fellow at the European Space Agency. In 2022, he reached the final stages of the European Space Agency astronaut selection. With this opening lecture about ‘anaesthesia in outer space’, the ESAIC wishes to honour his outstanding contribution to our speciality. Recognising the medical community’s diverse learning needs and preferences, EA24 offers scientific sessions in various formats and promotes the most innovative training methodologies for safer patient care. The workshop programme provides hands-on training and simulation experience using innovative educational approaches for delegates to refine both technical and non-technical skills.
During Euroanaesthesia 2024, the ESAIC will showcase its captivating projects and initiatives at the ESAIC Expo. This central space facilitates engagement with key stakeholders involved in ESAIC projects and committees, fostering knowledge exchange and collaboration within the community. For example, The ESAIC Research Groups PROVENet, POSE, and RAPNet will present their latest findings. At the same time, the Patient Safety and Quality Committee will provide an overview of their ongoing initiatives to promote quality of care. Delegates are invited to discover more sessions about education and training, the EDAIC exam, medical publications, etc., by navigating the 3-day thematic ESAIC Expo programme.
In addition to the enriching educational and networking opportunities at EA24, attendees will have the chance to explore the cultural riches of Munich. The city, known as “München” in German, derives its name from its historical roots as the “Home of the Monks.” Munich’s rich cultural heritage is intertwined with its dynamic modernity, offering visitors a blend of history, culture, and natural beauty.
Industry partners at EA24 will showcase their latest developments and breakthroughs in the field. This exhibition of cutting-edge innovations will provide valuable insights into emerging trends and technologies shaping anaesthesiology, intensive care medicine, pain management, perioperative medicine, and critical emergency medicine. In collaboration with industry, ESAIC will present the latest innovations in Neuroscience, Sustainability and Connectivity in the “Innovation Village”.
