On behalf of the ESAIC Leadership, we would like to inform our community that due to the continual spread of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), the ESAIC has taken the decision to postpone Euroanaesthesia 2020 in Barcelona, originally scheduled for 30 May – 1 June.

We are looking into two possible alternative dates: Either 21-24 August or 28-31 August and we are in discussion with the congress venue in Barcelona to see how they can best accommodate our needs. Many of their events have been postponed in the upcoming months and we are all working together to find the best solution as quickly and efficiently as possible.

The ESAIC is continually monitoring the effects of Covid-19 and the advice of the WHO and national authorities in Europe and abroad to evaluate and manage its impact on our members, the health care community, our patients, our society, and our staff. We realise how vital anaesthetists and intensivists are during this time, and that being present in their hospitals far outweigh any other normal activities.  Our members and community are crucial in containing this epidemic and saving countless lives.

For those who have already registered for Euroanaesthesia, please know that we are making every available effort to address questions and concerns and are working towards several solutions. We hope that we can count on your commitment and flexibility in this challenging time. More information, along with the new congress dates, will be announced next week. Please do check our website regularly for the most recent updates.

Together we stand in solidarity with the people involved and send our deepest sympathies to the families of those who have suffered the greatest during this epidemic.
